Next-gen Birlas to get biz-ready

A new generation of Birlas has joined the board of two Aditya Birla companies. The children of Kumar Mangalam Birla, Ananya and Aryaman, have been inducted into the board of the group’s fashion business and the apex policy making panel.

While Ananya already has built a career in the music industry as a singer, Aryaman was a cricket player for Rajasthan Royals.

But as they grow older, Birla wants them to focus on the family businesses and take charge of the companies. Birla has already built a successful group through mergers and acquisitions, both in India and overseas. Barring telecom, in which Birla shareholders have lost a lot of money, other businesses of the group have done well. It would now be a big challenge for the next generation to grow the group from here.
