Jindal to enter new businesses

After making a mark in cement and paints, Sajjan Jindal is entering new businesses like defence and electric vehicles. After tasting success in steel and later in energy, the group is spreading its wings to ports and infrastructure.

The group will make military trucks and is planning to get into other businesses. At the same time, it is in final negotiations to acquire the EV business of MG Motor, a subsidiary of China’s SAIC Motor.

MG Motor is making huge losses in India and, due to its ‘controversial’ Chinese parentage, is unable to invest further. The Chinese company will sell its EV business to the joint venture with Jindal and partially exit India. An announcement is expected by March.
