Mohini Mohan Dutta, a close friend of the late Ratan Tata, has sought one-third of his assets as per his will. But the Tata family, including Ratan Tata’s half-sisters, are insisting on giving only cash components worth Rs 200 crore, and not a third of the late industrialist’s assets worth Rs 10,000 crore.
Dutta has threatened to take the matter to court, and former Chief justice of India Sharad Bobde has been asked to mediate in the matter.
Needless to say, it would be most interesting to know why the late Ratan Tata was so generous towards his close confi dante.
