Design Excellence (India)

‘Designing’ excellence across industry

Design Excellence (India) Private Ltd, popularly known as DXL, is an “ISO:9001-2015” certified corporate entity and a leading engineering consultancy that specialises in civil, structural and architectural design services for industrial and infrastructure projects across domestic and international markets.

Floated as a partnership company styled ‘Design Enclave’ in 1992 by three engineers with considerable international experience — Akshay Kohojkar, Ajay Yeri and Ashok Bapat – it was converted into a private limited company in 1994 and renamed Design Excellence (India) Pvt Ltd. Since then, the company has grown in shape, size, experience and reputation at a steady pace.

With over three decades of experience, the Mumbai-headquartered company has developed strong expertise across diverse sectors, including oil & gas, power plants, the chemical and petrochemical industry, fertilisers, steel plants, mining, nuclear facilities and desalination plants, as well as commercial, residential, hotel and airport infrastructure. It operates with a team of around 70 experienced engineers, architects and drafting professionals, supported by advanced engineering software and modern infrastructure. The company provides comprehensive consultancy services and undertakes single-point responsibility for projects, including structural, architectural, MEP, HVAC, fire-fighting and allied services through its associate network. DXL has successfully executed projects across India and internationally, including oil & gas projects in Iraq, PET recycling facilities in Georgia (US), pipe rack projects in Abu Dhabi, STP and allied infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia, and critical nuclear reactor building works in India.

GLOBAL CLIENTS

Maintains Akshay Kohojkar, founderdirector of DXL, “We are proud that we have maintained long-term client relationships, reflected through repeated project assignments. Driven by exceptional quality, technical excellence and client satisfaction, the company continues to deliver innovative and reliable engineering solutions worldwide.”

He continues, “We have a long-standing and proven experience in providing engineering services for mega EPC projects involving complex structures while ensuring compliance to committed quantities. Our engineering team is well- versed with almost all international codes of practices for design and has executed projects using American, Euro, German, Australian, Canadian, Chilean and Russian codes, apart from Indian codes. DXL has highly sophisticated engineering software capable of handling complex project requirements. Our company has developed expertise to work entirely on a 3D platform, including integrating civil/structural models with plant models developed in PDS/PDMS/Smart Plant.”

Over the past three decades, the company has built a strong reputation in the field of civil and structural consultancy, successfully delivering a wide range of complex industrial and infrastructure projects.

CONSISTENT SALES

DXL's excellence in design, high standard of aesthetics and remarkable management efficiency have led to noticeable success on the financial front. According to Mr Kohojkar, the company has consistently achieved annual revenues exceeding Rs 10 crore over the past three fiscal years, reflecting sustained growth and strong market performance. Interestingly, export projects have contributed around 30 per cent to total revenues, demonstrating DXL's expanding global footprint.

Pointing to the plans and prospects ahead, Mr Kohojkar says DXL plans to expand its engineering consultancy services across domestic and international markets, particularly in industrial and infrastructural sectors. He notes that the company is focused on strengthening integrated service capabilities and adopting advanced technologies to support sustainable and quality-driven growth.
